Micron announced the Micron 2600 NVMe SSD, a value client storage solution designed for OEMs built with the industry’s first 9th-generation QLC NAND. The Micron 2600 SSD features Micron’s innovative Adaptive Write Technology (AWT) to deliver exceptional PCIe Gen4 performance with QLC economics. The Micron 2600 SSD achieves up to 63% faster sequential write and 49% faster random write speeds than competing value QLC and TLC SSDs, offering a best-in-class user experience for demanding client users.
Optimized QLC NAND Performance
Micron AWT enhances the write performance of QLC NAND with an industry-first dynamic caching architecture that utilizes multi-tiered SLC, TLC, and QLC layers. This improves sequential write speeds and enables up to four times faster sustained write performance while continuously writing up to 800GB of data to a 2TB SSD.
Micron’s advanced six-plane NAND architecture in its 2Tb G9 QLC NAND increases parallelism by enabling more simultaneous read and write commands. With speeds reaching up to 3.6 GB/s, the 2600 SSD delivers the fastest NAND I/O rate currently available in a client SSD.
Storage Matters
Modern PC storage plays a vital role in improving application productivity and enhancing the user experience. The Micron 2600 SSD transforms everyday computing by significantly accelerating performance for commonly used applications.
• Enhanced Performance: The 2600 SSD speeds up data access and boosts both read and write rates, which leads to quicker boot-ups, faster application launches, and improved overall responsiveness. It also shortens OS image installation times, streamlining PC manufacturing and commercial drive imaging processes.
• AI PC Applications: High-speed storage is essential for AI-powered workflows. The 2600 SSD’s fast read capabilities enable quick loading of AI models, allowing users to shift between tasks smoothly.
• User Experience: AWT helps ensure that active data is intelligently stored for optimal responsiveness in content creation, casual gaming, and general computing. In PCMark 10 testing, the 2600 SSD demonstrated up to 44% higher scores and 43% better bandwidth compared to competing value TLC SSDs, underscoring its superior user experience.
The Micron 2600 NVMe SSD is now shipping globally to OEMs in 22x30mm, 22x42mm, and 22x80mm form factors, with capacities from 512GB to 2TB. These compact, single-sided designs are ideal for ultra-thin laptops, workstations, and space-constrained devices like handheld gaming systems—especially the 2TB 22x30mm model, which combines high capacity with a minimal footprint.
