Lexar is a division of Micron that offers different flash storage devices including flash drives, different memory cards including SDs, micro SDs, CompactFlash, CFast and XQDs along with card readers and related products. Micron announced it will be discontinuing its Lexar retail removable media storage business as announced in the Micron blog page. The decision was said to be made as part of Micron’s ongoing efforts to focus on its increasing opportunities in higher value markets and channels.

The Lexar portfolio includes memory cards, USB flash drives, readers, and storage drives for retail and OEM customers. Micron produces its own NAND flash for these flash storage products along with Micron-brand Solid State Drives, Memory Modules for desktop and server use and other flash-based products. Micron is currently exploring opportunities to sell all or part of the Lexar business.

Micron will continue to provide support to the company’s existing customers through the transition period. Micron asks their clients to contact their Lexar sales representative to discuss specific requirements.
