Aside from the suspension of sales, Microsoft will assist in the protection of Ukraine’s cybersecurity and help defend the country against cyberattacks. Microsoft will also be addressing other major concerns including the safety and protection of its employees and support for humanitarian aid. Microsoft will be working closely with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and multiple UN agencies to help refugees by providing technology and financial support for key NGOs and, where needed.

Microsoft will also be assisting in providing protection against state-sponsored disinformation campaigns. This requires decisive efforts across the tech sector – both individually by companies and in partnership with others – as well as with governments, academia, and civil society.
