Ahh WiFi my old friend. So convenient yet so slow.... until now! Netgear will be releasing the first 802.11ac router. What does that mean you ask? Well here is a quote direct from Netgear.

The R6300 with simultaneous dual band WiFi technology offers speeds up to 450+1300‡ Mbps and avoids interference, ensuring top WiFi speeds and reliable connections.

Do my eyes deceive me? 1300 Mbps over a wireless connection? Not only that but it is backwards compatible with 802.11 a/b/g and n devices, has 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports. Also announced is an app called Netgear Genie that lets you monitor and repair (among other things) your network from your PC, MAC, Tablet or smart phone.

Now as far as I can tell there are no other 802.11ac devices available but there will be in the future as this is going to be the new standard. There is also no word on price for the Netgear R6300 so stay tuned for more news as it comes. In the meantime, head over to the product site for yet more details on what looks to be a fantastic router.
