Toshiba launches its newest line of premium Client NVMe SSDs – the XG5-P Series. The new Toshiba XG5-P Series offers improved performance and capacity over the current XG5 Series having a maximum capacity of 2TB. Toshiba already started shipping to OEM customers wherein it will be used to the next generation notebooks, ultrabooks and PCs that use M.2 NVMe drives. Toshiba will gradually increase shipments early 2018.

Faster and More Energy Efficient
The new Toshiba XG5-P uses PCIe Gen3x4 interface and NVMe Revision 1.2.1 interface offering blistering speeds of up to 3000MB/s sequential read and 2200MB/s sequential write and up to 320,000 IOPS random read and 265,000 IOPS random write. While the Toshiba XG5-P NVMe SSDs offer 55% performance improvement over its predecessor, it manages to maintain low power consumption of less than 60mW during operation.

Benefits of 64-Layer 3D BiCS FLASH
Toshiba uses its own NAND flash on its SSDs and for the XG5-P Series, Toshiba uses the 64-layer, 3D flash memory BiCS FLASH that offer higher capacities per package. For this particular M.2 NVMe SSD drives, Toshiba uses 1TB package that’s developed in-house to create the high-capacity 2TB model and still maintain a lightweight single-sided M.2 2280 form factor.

The Toshiba XG5-P SSDs will also be available in self-encrypting drive (SED) models supporting TCG Opal Version 2.01, contributing to a wide range of applications including workstations, gaming PCs and read-intensive enterprise use.
