NVIDIA has discretely added a GeForce RTX 4070 variant with slower GDDR6 memory. NVIDIA did not reveal the reason behind such release nor gave an announcement but today, some NVIDIA’s partners have listed some GeForce RTX 4070 GDDR6 models online. There have been a couple of listings of the said variant on Amazon and Newegg in the United States. It is expected to find these models listed in other regions soon. NVIDIA's partners did not announce the release of these models as well.
Cheaper but Slower
One of the first GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6 models found online today is from ZOTAC – the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Twin Edge OC GDDR6. On Amazon and Newegg, it is listed for $549.99, only $20 cheaper than its GDDR6X counterpart that’s listed for $569.99.
The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 EVO OC Edition 12GB GDDR6 has been listed on Newegg as well but is not yet available for sale. At the moment, there are only a handful of reviews on the GDDR6 variants which show a slightly inferior performance compared to its GDDR6X counterpart.
