NVIDIA Issue Hotfix Driver For Beleaguered GTX 1060 Owners

Last week we reported that an isolated number of GTX 1060's - potentially limited to those manufactured by a subset of AIB partners - were experiencing difficulty installing the then-new GeForce GTX 397.31 Game Ready drivers. NVIDIA have now responded with a fixed hotfix driver, r397.55, directly addressing the issue.

The new drivers, which are available here for 64-bit versions of Windows 10, 7 and 8.1, also implement bugfixes for stuttering during Netflix playback and a bizarre problem where under Windows 10 leaving the system to idle could cause the driver to be uninstalled. Release notes are reproduced below:

GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 397.55

This is GeForce Hot Fix driver version 397.55 that addresses the following:

- After driver installation, Device Manager may report Code 43 error on a few GTX 1060 cards models.
- Netflix playback may occasionally stutter.
- Added support for Microsoft Surface Book notebooks.
- Windows 10: Driver may get removed after PC has been left idle for an extended period of time.
