NVIDIA has announced the general availability of the RTX PRO 5000 72GB Blackwell GPU, expanding its professional desktop lineup with a higher-memory option designed to meet the growing demands of agentic and generative AI workloads. Aimed at developers, engineers and creative professionals, the new model brings Blackwell-class performance to local workstations where memory capacity is increasingly critical.

Built on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, the NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 72GB GDDR7 Professional Desktop GPU complements the existing 48GB variant, allowing users to better right-size their systems based on project scope, budget and workload complexity. The launch comes amid rising demand for high-end AI compute, particularly for workflows involving large language models, multimodal pipelines and AI agents that place sustained pressure on GPU memory.

Features
• 72GB of ultrafast GDDR7 memory, offering a 50 percent increase over the 48GB model
• Up to 2,142 TOPS of AI performance powered by NVIDIA Blackwell
• Designed for memory-intensive agentic AI, LLM development and multimodal workloads
• Supports local training, fine-tuning and prototyping with improved data privacy and lower latency

As generative AI evolves into more complex agentic systems, GPU memory capacity has become a key bottleneck. Workflows involving retrieval-augmented generation, tool chaining and multimodal reasoning often require multiple models and datasets to remain resident in memory. The expanded 72GB frame buffer allows larger models and longer context windows to be handled locally, reducing reliance on data centre resources.

In performance testing, NVIDIA claims the RTX PRO 5000 72GB delivers up to 3.5 times higher image generation performance and twice the text generation performance compared to prior-generation hardware. Creative professionals also benefit, with render times reduced by up to 4.7 times in popular path-tracing and real-time rendering engines, alongside more than double the graphics performance in computer-aided engineering workloads.

Early adopters include InfinitForm, which is using the GPU to accelerate CUDA-based generative design optimisation for engineering applications, and Versatile Media, where the increased memory capacity enables higher-resolution real-time virtual production workflows without compromising performance.

Availability and Pricing
The NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 72GB Blackwell GPU is now generally available from partners retailers. In the UK, the card is already listed by retailers such as Novatech and SCAN Computers with pricing and stock varying by supplier.
