NZXT has issued an important safety notice regarding a limited batch of SATA power cables shipped with select C1500 Platinum ATX 3.1 modular power supplies sold in the United States. According to the company, approximately 400 units may have reached customers with incorrectly wired SATA power cables due to a supplier-side assembly issue.
The affected model is the NZXT C1500 Platinum (PA-5P1BB-US), specifically units carrying the serial range 52258Z0280 0001~52258Z0280 1500 with a date code of 08/2025. NZXT clarified that the issue is isolated to the U.S. market, although customers who may have relocated or resold the PSU outside the country are still encouraged to check their serial numbers and contact support if affected.
NZXT explained the issue in the official notice:
In the affected cables, the 12V and 3.3V conductors were reversed by the supplier during assembly.
The company further detailed the potential risks associated with the faulty SATA power cables:
Most modern SATA SSDs, HDDs, and optical drives are unlikely to be affected because they do not utilize the 3.3V rail
Devices relying on the 12V rail may simply fail to power on because they would instead receive 3.3V
Certain legacy or specialty devices that use the 3.3V rail could potentially be damaged if supplied with 12V instead
NZXT emphasized that no injuries or PSU damage incidents have been reported so far, stating:
We have received no reports of injury or PSU damage related to this issue, but out of an abundance of caution we are asking affected customers to stop using the cables immediately.
Customers with affected units are advised to immediately stop using the included modular SATA power cable. NZXT also instructed users not to repair or rewire the cable themselves and instead cut the cable in half and dispose of it to prevent reuse.
Importantly, NZXT confirmed that the issue only affects the modular SATA power cable. The PSU itself and all other included cables, including the 24-pin, EPS, and PCIe cables, remain safe to use.
