Toshiba has announced the release and availability of their new OCZ Trion 150 series SSD. This SSD is an affordable performance upgrade for users who haven’t yet upgraded to an SSD on their notebooks or desktops.

The Trion 150 series drives are built with Toshiba’s 15nm Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND flash technology. This brings to the table fast Read/Write speeds along with good IOPS and when compared to its predecessor this drive offers improved real world performance.

The Trion 150 series drive offers sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s. Bundled with a random write I/O performance of up to 91,000 IOPS this really improves multitasking and productivity.

The OCZ Trion 150 series SSD will be available in 4 sizes, the usual 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB. Each drive has an endurance rating of 240 TBW (total bytes written), which is pretty incredible given the drive’s low price positioning in the market. The drive is also bundled with OCZ’s ShieldPlus warranty which protects your drive for 3 years after purchase.

Currently the 120GB drive is listed on Newegg for $49.99. The 240GB drive is priced at $69.99, while the 480GB drive is available for $139.99. The highest capacity 960GB drive has also been priced at $269.99.
