"A New Devil Is Born" - Powercolor Tease Follow-Up 'Devil' Card
PowerColor's premium 'Devil' range of graphics cards have been a highlight of the release calender since the first models some years ago. Featuring extreme cooling and far higher than reference clock speeds - the most recent release based on AMD's R9 390X had a hybrid liquid cooler - they almost always shake up expectations and show what AMD's hardware can do when unencumbered by standard cooling solutions. Why is this relevant? Simple: the tease to the next Devil release has begun.
As the name indicates, the Devil RX 480 will be based on AMD's Radeon RX 480 design, although we wouldn't put it past Powercolor to add some secret sauce to the equation. Coming in the week of July 11th, the card also gives us an indication of the release window for non-reference RX 480 design from all manufacturers. Unless they implement a dual-GPU solution we don't anticipate that the card will leap to the next higher performance bracket, but you never can tell.
Coinciding with this brief tease is a competition for the card, which you can find at PowerColor.com. One lucky winner will pick up the card, a sweet prize for any gamer.
AMD's Radeon RX 480 launches soon into the mid-range, with an MSRP of $199.
