Razer Attempt To Elevate The Quality Of Chat With The Tetra Headset

After the Raptor Gaming Monitor's unveiling earlier this week, peripheral giant Razer are returning to familiar territory with the launch of a new chat headset primed for couch-top PC and console multiplayer gaming. Built with an exceptionally lightweight frame, the Tetra differentiates itself through the use of what Razer bill as a 'pro-grade' microphone for crystal-clear communications in the heat of the moment.

In design, the Razer Tetra follows the single-ear console chat headset style preferred by gamers with more comprehensive home speaker setups for the immersive gameplay. The cardioid microphone has been tuned to pick up human speech, raising the Tetra's clarity for chat-centric functionality in spite of a cacophony of noise from in-room speakers. An in-line control will also give users easy access to important functionality including volume slider and mic mute.

Razer's Tetra supports all the major platforms - PC, XBOX, PS4 and Nintendo Switch - through the use of a 3.5mm cable jack that will connect to many console controllers natively, and an alternative version dedicated to the PS4 specifically will be available in the EU region. It's lightweight at only ~70g, making it convenient for long gaming sessions, and can be worn on either ear thanks to a rotating microphone arm emplacement. As a headset with 3.5mm jack it will also be suitable for use with mobile devices such as smartphones, potentially making it a peripheral with more applications in your day-to-day life than immediately obvious.
