Recently we brought you a story about the Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X with 8 GB of ram. Now Sapphire have announced a second; the Sapphire R9 290X Toxic Edition. We think this one looks even better!

Based on previous releases the Toxic brand of Sapphire cards are often the fastest. However, there has been no word on clock speeds for either card but we do know that both the Vapor-X and the Toxic will be limited edition with pricing likely to be announced closer to the release date. However, given that this card is limited edition it will likely be close to the top price range.

So what does 8GB of ram on a GPU do for you? Well for 1080p gamers its likely to be overkill. GPU ram stored cached textures as well as other calculations for graphics processing, the more ram on a GPU the better it handles higher resolutions and better texture quality. This card would be ideal for multi-monitor gaming (EyeFinity) or gamers considering moving to 4K resolutions.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on both the Vapor-X and the Toxic R9 290X cards from Sapphire as more details emerge.
