Recently we brought you news about a Sapphire R9 290X, a beastly gaming GPU that we're very keen to get our hands on. However, cards like this R7 240 below, also by Sapphire, should not go ignored.

Low profile cards are still very popular for those who like small form factor or HTPC builds. The R7 240 by Sapphire is based on the GCN architecture for AMD which was created to try and get the most out of a cards power. This card is no exception, it may be small but it still packs a decent punch for a single slot card. It has a core speed of 730MHz with boost up to 780MHz and 2 GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 1.8GHz. It has dual HDMI 1.4a outputs on it that support a max resolution of 4096 x 2160 and the outputs can both be used at the same time.

This would be a nice addition to a HTPC and would easily support 4K video.

Stay tuned for more details as they come. We are still waiting for a price to be stated by Sapphire.
