In an interview with the Irish Film & Television Network, Seamus McGarvey, the Director of Photography for the latest superhero film 'The Avengers', has revealed that certain scenes were shot using an iPhone (no model specified but the iPhone 4 is the most likely). These shots also made it into the official theatrical trailer, which you can watch below. See if you can spot which ones they are!

The Avengers is the latest in a large amount of new superhero movies, and without giving too much away, tells the story of how many of our favourite Marvel characters have to team up to face a new challenge together. We can expect to see Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow all in the same production. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston. The film is being directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly) and is expected for release May 4th 2012. We're certainly looking forward to it!

So what do you think about shooting films using a mobile phone? It's not a new idea but is it a good one?
