Seasonic has achieved a new efficiency milestone with the Seasonic PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 becoming the first ATX power supply to earn 80 PLUS Ruby certification at 115V. The PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 PSU is designed for demanding desktop, workstation and AI systems, meeting the highest efficiency tier introduced under the 80 PLUS programme.

The achievement makes Seasonic the first manufacturer to pass the latest 80 PLUS Ruby requirements at 115 V, extending the company’s history with the efficiency certification programme. Seasonic previously became the first PSU manufacturer to certify products under 80 PLUS in 2005 and later achieved the first 80PLUS Gold certification in 2008.

80 PLUS Ruby Efficiency
80 PLUS Ruby is the newest and most demanding tier in the 80 PLUS programme. At 115 V, certified power supplies must achieve 85% efficiency at 5% load, 91% at 10%, 93% at 20%, 95% at 50% and 91% at 100% load.

The certification also requires a power factor of at least 0.95 at 20% load. The additional 5% and 10% load requirements place greater emphasis on efficiency during low-load operation, covering periods when systems are idle or performing light workloads.

Designed For High-Demand Systems
The PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 targets high-performance desktop PCs, workstations and AI-oriented systems where high power requirements and rapid load changes place additional demands on the power supply.

Achieving the Ruby requirements requires optimisation across switching control, thermal design, component selection and validation. Higher conversion efficiency reduces energy lost as heat while lowering the cooling requirements of high-density systems.

Seasonic 80 PLUS Milestones
Sea Sonic has established several milestones within the 80 PLUS programme:
• 2005 – First 115V 80 PLUS Standard-certified PC power supply with the SS-400HT
• 2008 – First 115V 80 PLUS Gold-certified power supply
• 2026 – First 115V power supply to pass 80 PLUS Ruby requirements with the PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 (see certification here)
