Ever eager to improve user experiences with both their hardware and software, NVIDIA are today releasing the latest major update to the GeForce Experience desktop application. Rebuilt from the ground-up to be more lightweight and intuitive to use than the original, GeForce Experience 3 needs just half the memory of its predecessor whilst also operating three times as fast.

GeForce Experience has time cemented its position as a mainstay and value-added part of NVIDIA's GeForce hardware and software platform for desktop gaming. Initially billed as an optimisation tool for game settings - matching users with diverse hardware to a series of in-game options that maximises visual quality whilst retaining the best gameplay experience - GeForce Experience has over time incorporated in-game video recording, streaming, game-sharing and more. Whilst new functionality has been crammed into the app, unfortunately the base application is starting to show its age and something of an overhaul was needed.

GeForce Experience 3 has a substantially redesigned UI which aims to streamline not only the optimisation process, but also the entire gamut of GFE's functionality. Despite this refresh nothing has been thrown out; the tool is still a pretty comprehensive one for getting started with recording gameplay and streaming, whilst being integral to interoperability with external hardware such as the SHIELD console.

Naturally NVIDIA are keen to get more gamers involved using the application every day, and unsurprisingly offer a few perks for the privilege. The most important, and perhaps most contentious, are Game Ready drivers; these day-0 driver packages precede every triple-A release and offer best-possible performance on NVIDIA hardware. Weekly give-aways sweeten the deal, giving you the chance to win games or even graphics cards. To quality for both you will need to register and email with NVIDIA through the app, a fact that proved to be controversial when announced last year.
