PRESS RELEASE

Designed by Daniel Hanson, the DAN A4-SFX has long been viewed as occupying a premium tier of small form factor cases. Lauded not only for its build quality but also an intuitive internal layout that maximised hardware support, this all-aluminium chassis is in demand where-ever it appears. Sadly that also means it tends to falls out of stock rather swiftly; such is the price one pays for popularity. So it's great to see the chassis return to UK retailers, this time in its third major iteration.

Returning from previous versions is the premium aluminium exterior with brushed finish. Available as both anodised black and silver, the high quality appearance immediately gives it a leg up over most of the competition in the market. However there are some changes worth noting.

The V3 edition incorporates new components from noted manufacturer Lian-Li, a new PCIe 3.0 riser module from 3M, and an additional AIO CPU cooler mount. As a result the chassis supports both 92 and 120mm radiators out of the box, which is all the more impressive considering the cases' 7.2L internal volume. Internal mounting points for an HDPLEX 400W HiFi DC-ATX PSUs are also supplied, ensuring that a tiny high-quality power supply is always an implementable option.

This case is ideal for those in need of a small form factor system which doesn't compromise on components. It comfortably houses mini-ITX motherboards with sensible CPU cooling, and will support dual-slot GPUs up to 295mm in length. Graphics cards are mounted behind the motherboard tray via the included PCIe riser system in a way that optimises the use of space, keeping the cases' slim appearance. Perforated holes in the side panels aid cooling these often toasty pieces of hardware.

While there are mounting points for a HDPLEX 400W HiFi DC-ATX PSU, both SFX and SFX-L PSUs are also conventionally supported. And of course storage, ever a bug-bear when planning out SFF builds, is catered to through mounting points for up to three 2.5" SSDs (two if an SFX-L PSU is used).

Example internal system build

Improvements made in the DAN Cases A4-SFX V3

- Lian Li PCIe 16x Gen3 riser (black PCB and cabes)
- Adjustments to the USB3.0 internal cable to be compatible with Asetek 92mm AIO
- Improvements to the power button to optimise the pressure point
- Adding mount points for HDPLEX 400W HiFi DC-ATX
- Mounting bracket for 120mm AIO

So, what's the price? Well, this is no cheap £50 mini-ITX chassis. The case is on sale today from Overclockers UK for £209.99, which is up there with many feature-rich Full Tower cases. However the level of design that's gone into this latest version of the DAN Cases A4-SFX is exceptional, and makes it well worth considering if you're putting together an uncompromising SFF system that needs to be both exceptionally small and powerful.
