Thermal Grizzly has introduced the new TG Delidded CPU - Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, a pre-delidded and validated processor designed for enthusiasts seeking lower operating temperatures and improved overclocking performance. Based on Intel’s Arrow Lake Refresh platform for the LGA1851 socket, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is positioned as a more cost-effective alternative to the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K while still delivering competitive performance.
According to Thermal Grizzly, the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus can surpass the Core Ultra 9 285K in certain overclocked scenarios when paired with direct-die cooling, liquid metal thermal interface material, and a high-performance custom water-cooling loop. The company emphasises that the best thermal results are achieved using direct-die water blocks alongside extensive radiator surface area.
The TG Delidded CPU series consists of processors that are manually delidded by Thermal Grizzly’s trained staff before undergoing validation and testing. Delidding involves removing the processor’s integrated heat spreader to improve thermal transfer directly from the dies to the cooling solution. While this process normally voids the manufacturer’s warranty, Thermal Grizzly provides its own warranty coverage in addition to the legally required seller warranty.
After delidding, the processor is cleaned and the dies are lightly sanded to improve liquid metal adhesion. Thermal Grizzly notes that this treatment is surface-level and intended solely to optimise thermal performance without damaging components. Each processor then undergoes functionality testing, with temperature validation screenshots and microscope images of the delidded CPU stored on an included USB flash drive.
