Thermaltake and MSI Team Up For X79

MSI and Thermaltake are two brands at the forefront of PC technology today. Just yesterday Vortez.net reviewed MSI's high-end X79 release board, the X79-GD65 (8D), which was attained both our Silver and Recommended awards. Last year the Thermaltake Frio CLP0564 performed admirably on our gruelling CPU test bench and secured a Gold Award. Make no mistake, we rate both companies highly. However collaboration between two such companies is rare and worthy of note when it happens, which brings us to the following bundle.

The makers of the X79-GD65 (8D) and Frio Advanced will be bundling both products together in selected e-tailers to tempt early adopters of Intel SandyBridge-E, bringing together MSI's Military Class III reliability and stability and Thermaltake's performance cooling pedigree. The Advanced, a recent iteration of the well respected Frio range of CPU coolers, will obviously come with the mounting mechanism necessary for the LGA2011 socket and should be a good match for the Intel SB-E range including the i7 3960X. The SB-E gets a little toasty compared to the LGA1155 line and so will benefit from high-quality CPU coolers; high-level overclocks should be well within reach with these components.
