Titanfall was one of the most eagerly awaited games of 2014, but post-launch player numbers fell off quickly despite dynamic and innovative multiplayer gameplay and support in the form of post-launch content. Now EA and Respawn Entertainment look set to have another bite at the cherry with Titanfall 2, a teaser trailer for which was posted yesterday.
EA look set to stage a comprehensive reveal for the game on June 12th, two days prior to the opening of E3 2016.
The full game launch is likely some ways away, but already one wonders how the IP can be salvaged from the ashes of a lacklustre launch to the first installment. Core gameplay depth was never Titanfall's failing, but a wider selection of maps and game modes from day one should be at the forefront of Respawn's plan. An introduction of single-player 'story mode' to the game seems unlikely however, despite the in-game world and lore being decidedly paper-thin.
As part of the EA Origin Trials program Titanfall can be played for free for two days. More information can be found at https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/free-games/trials. Titanfall 2 looks set to be available on PC, XBOX One and PS4.
