Just take a look at this. This video shows the guys at SweClockers ramping up the clock frequency on their GTX 590 whilst using Forceware 267.52 drivers. With the early samples, this driver was shipped with the card but what they didn't know is that it had no protection for overheating. Sadly, thats probably the last they will ever see of that card again...
