World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth Set For August 14th Release

World of Warcraft's latest expansion will release on August 14th 2018. Battle For Azeroth is Warcraft's 7th expansion, and will follow on from the events of Legion where heroes defeated the Fallen Titan Sargeras and his Burning Legion. Pre-orders have been open for some time on the Battle.net App and through the Blizzard Store, granting immediate in-game access to new 'Allied Race' character models.

In Battle For Azeroth Horde and Alliance are once again at loggerheads despite successfully staving off the Legion's invasion. Azeroth itself is wounded, and from that wound comes a new source of power that neither wide will allow the other to exploit uncontested: Azerite. Meanwhile the Old God's machinations continue, with fearful prophecies whispered in the Emerald Nightmare perhaps coming to pass.

New content in the form of Island Expeditions and Warfronts are coming to BfA. Island Expeditions are small, PvE scenarios where you and a small team of players hunt Azerite - a new resource - against smart enemy AI on island maps populated by randomised NPC races. Warfronts by contrast are larger PvP spectacles inspired by the game's RTS heritage, generally centred on a specific in-game zone.

Players will advanced to level 120 in BfA through story content on new zones: the isles of Kul Tiras and Zandalar. At present details on WoW's premier content - endgame PvE Raids - are harder to come by, but one will almost certainly feature the Naga race and Queen Azshara in particular rather heavily.

Collectors Edition

As is customary, a physical Collector's Edition of the Expansion will be available at release. In addition to the perks included in the Digital Collector's Edition, it contains:

- Double-Sided Story Book: Elegy & A Good War
- Horde & Alliance Double-Sided Mark of Allegiance
- Collector’s Edition Digital Soundtrack

If you pre-order a Digital Standard or Deluxe Edition, and then later buy the Collector's Edition, you will be able to claim back the cost of your digital version. Claims need to be submitted before December 31st 2018, and funds will be refunded to your Battle.net balance. The Collector's Edition is now available to pre-order, priced at $99 in the US.
