Thermal Paste

The bundled thermal paste performs quite remarkably for a non-branded compound. Against our standard-use Thermalright ChillFactor II, the biggest difference is 1.25C when the CPU is at stock speed. Otherwise, the difference is between 0.25C-0.5C.

Noise

As far as acoustics goes, the K2 is a relatively quiet unit thanks mostly to the high quality fans bundled. At 1500RPM, the 120mm Wing Boost fan is by no means inaudible but it is quiet enough to go completely unnoticed especially when case fans and graphics cards tend to be louder. The 140mm fan on the other hand is near inaudible at its rated speed. The main advantage of the two fans is their PWM functionality allowing them to be dynamically controlled based on temperatures. Unlike ALC units with fan control, the benefit of the K2 is that you don’t sacrifice performance as much when dialling down the fan, so users can still have respectable temperatures with near silent operation.

For a more comprehensive analysis of the noise levels, have a look at our dedicated reviews for the 120mm Wing Boost fan and its 140mm counterpart.
