Packaging & First Look

Unmistakable ROG design

Maximus VII Impact arrives in the usual ROG packaging we have seen time and time again. The front has a number of logos which hint at the included technologies involved with this motherboard. The front of the box has a flip out cover which lists the fundamental features – the reverse of the box goes into further detail regarding the technical specifications.

The included accessories

Accompanying the motherboard there are a selection of included items which consist of the accessories bundle. The following are included:

User's manual
1 x ASUS Q-Cable
1 x SupremeFX Impact II audio card(s)
1 x Optional 4-in-1 washers for CPU cooler backplate
I/O Shield
4 x SATA 6Gb/s cable(s)
1 x ASUS 2T2R dual band Wi-Fi moving antennas (Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac compliant)
1 x 12 in 1 ROG Cable Label(s)
1 x mPCIe Combo IV card(s) with dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac + Bluetooth v4.0 module

Maximus VII Impact in all its glory

The motherboard itself is covered with an anti-static bag and sits in another box above the bundled accessories. Maximus VII Impact extends the Intel Z97 lineup for ROG by introducing a downsized, Mini-ITX option.

For a board of this size there is a surprising lineup of features packed in. Certain aspects have been arranged in a specific way in order to allow enough room for ports – such as the EPS power sitting beside 24-pin ATX power and features like Mem OK! Q-Code and CMOS reset are bundled onto a add-in card for the Rear IO panel.

Maximus VII Impact conforms to Mini-ITX standards measuring: 6.7 inch x 6.7 inch ( 17 cm x 17 cm ).
