Another product, another review, another winner. For a long time, the limiting factor with thermal pastes has been electrical conductivity, and considering the fact that they\\\'ll be used with close proximity to circuitry, it is no surprise that manufacturers have tried to bypass or limit the use of metal in their pastes. Most, as a result tend to be metal oxides, consolidated with non-metal additives. Coollaboratory on the other hand have taken a different route. They created a thermal material based solely on a metal alloy, overcoming those unneeded precautions linked to electrical conductivity. Their idea is that careful application should be enough to prevent any malicious outcome and the reward for taking this risk is remarkable!
Looking at the results, it is as clear as daylight that no other thermal paste solution can outperform the Liquid Metal Pro. Not only did the Coollaboratory Liquid Metal Pro beat the previously reviewed Arctic MX-3, but it did so by a wide margin of up to 4 degrees!
Applying the Liquid Metal is also a piece of cake as long as the extensively mentioned precautions are taken so that\\\'s a bonus point. Removing it is another story as previously mentioned so take this into consideration before buying it but in most cases, you will have no need to remove it anyway.
Pros:
•Best thermal interface material reviewed
•Only requires a tiny drop during application
•Bundled cleaning kit
•Easy application
Cons:
•The syringe is very sharp
•Precaution required when applying the Liquid Metal
•Removing the paste requires grinding and may void the warranty on the component
•Does not work with aluminium coolers
Despite the cons, this is the best thermal material I have tested and as long as the necessary steps are taken, it rewards you with marvellous cooling performance. The Coollaboratory Liquid Metal Pro deservedly earns itself the Vortez Hardware Gold Award!
