For overclocking the HIS R9 280X ICEQ x2 Turbo we will be using AMDs Overdrive utility.

Above is a screenshot of GPU-Z showing the reference clockspeeds. It is worth pointing at this point that the card is pre-overclocked at the factory to an already fast 1050MHz on the core so while we are impressed with the factory overclock, we hope to see some overclocking headroom left for us to play with.

We managed to prize a further 130MHz out of the core and 150MHz on the memory. While it could be pushed a little higher for a few benchmark runs any further than this and the card failed our stability testing. Rather than give you a false impression of the cards overclock ability, we prefer to give you a truthful reflection of what to expect.

As with all of our overclocks, we like to ensure they are stable and to do this we leave Unigine Heaven 4.0 running for a number of hours, heating the card up to its full operating temperature then make a further benchmarked run to compare the stock vs. overclocked results seen above.
