Lian Li PC-A77F Review

Conclusion

Being the first Lian Li case I have had dealings with, I was filled with much anticipation due to the community respecting the brand and their army of cases - holding them in such renown. The PC-A77F certainly had a lot to live up to, and on many terms it did live up to its reputation.

Exceptional build quality, roomy, wealth of functionality are all words that describe the PC-A77F. Aluminium cases are hard to come by unless of course you turn to Lian Li. Full tower cases with such a plethora of features and functionality are also hard to come by unless of course you turn to the PC-A77F. What I\'m trying to get across here is that there aren\'t many brands out there that offer such characteristics all wrapped up within one case. The PC-A77F is a great case for system builders, gamers and overclockers as it can host anything and everything - motherboards mATX, ATX, E-ATX, multiple graphic card configurations and large CPU heatsinks.

But it isn\'t without its faults, there is no SSD support, no removable motherboard tray and the fan controller inside does not work. If you bear in mind that the PC-A77F resides at nigh on £260 ($402/€334) you really want these features to be present. The fan controller stands out to me as being the big problem, its there waiting to be used but the cables to link the fans to it are simply not long enough so its rendered useless.

In retrospect though, there are some fantastic features on the PC-A77F. Tool-less pretty much everything, rubber anti-vibration insulation on all devices, graphics card retention functionality, USB 3 support and much more.

Pros
+ Exceptional build quality
+ Very spacious
+ Multitude of tool-less functionality
+ Graphics card retention

Cons
- Fan controller does not work
- Motherboard tray is not removable
- Lack of SSD support
- Expensive

The PC-A77F has inspired me, and whilst it does have some negatives it should still be recognised as an excellent case. Therefore I award it Silver.

We would like to thank Case King and Lian Li for sending the PC-A77F. You can discuss this review on our forums
