No driver CD is included in the package. Instead you are directed to download the software directly from QPAD. While the mouse is plug'n'play caompatible, the software suite allows complete control and customisation of the 5K L.E.



The software is navigated by 6 tabs, the first being button configuration. Each of the five buttons can be configured to perform many tasks including windows shortcuts, single key operation or pre-determined macro operations. You can also adjust the double click speed with a separate area to tweak your preferred setting.


The next tab allows basic configuration of the mousewheel and adjustment of the polling rate.


Next up is the cursor adjustment which is pretty much identical to the options available via windows.


Full DPI configuration is available on both axis in both settings, high and low which is determined by which of the uppermost buttons are activated. So for example you could set low DPI for sniping during game and high DPI for normal movement when quick turns are required. Another neat feature is the configuration of lift off detection although in practice this made very little difference save for a few millimetres.


A basic macro function is provided but I must stress it is very basic and in practice is not very well defined as the heads up display does not show which keys have been pressed when programming (the box stays white). The macro setting only allows up to 5 key presses as well which may well be enough for FPS games but MMO and RTS gamers may be left wanting at the lack of flexibility.

Overall, the software suite does enough to provide the user with some configuration of the mouse but that is all. It certainly does not stand out as a show piece of coding and while it is simple to use, it is only simple due to the basic functionality available, not because of an intuitive design.
