Visual opinions to the side, we now have to consider the performance aspect of the ROCCAT Kova[+]. In some ways, establishing if a peripheral is a good performer is quite a hard thing to conclude. After all we all have our own personal preferences; different shaped or sized hands and tastes. Nevertheless I will express my views on the mouse as best I can. So the real question is: How does the Kova[+] perform in game? As after all, it is a gaming grade mouse. In order to ascertain the performance of the Spawn it is necessary to put the mouse to good use for over a day within a selection of environments.

The Kova[+] handles games with exceptional precision and accuracy. The shape and size of the Kova[+] means that it is perhaps a little longer in length than other mice we have tested but it still feels great in the hand, button placement is also excellent as is the new Soft Touch exterior. It feels very smooth but has the added bonus of preventing the mouse sliding out of the hand.

The EasyShift[+] feature is a great success, for those who loved the physical aspect of the Kova but require button customisation then this mouse is the one for you.

ROCCAT have fine tuned their software by changing the voice feedback system to alert you of the actual DPI setting when it is changed rather than the announcer just saying "DPI UP". We now have "800 DPI" and "1600 DIP" booming out from the speakers, which is much more informative. (if you don't know what I'm talking about check our video)

The optical sensor performs excellent on both hardened plastic surfaces and the soft cloth type - I tested both. I experienced no problems whatsoever during the testing period, movements are fluid, natural and accurate. The Kova[+] should be deemed as a great gaming mouse.



General usage - Operating System & Image Editing

The operating system is the fundamental element to the computer and we couldn't do without it. We use its interface on a daily basis. Although the Kova[+] is primarily a gaming device, its interaction within the OS is pleasing. I also used the Kova[+] for some brief graphics editing and again, I was not let down here. When we are modifying graphics there is no room for inaccuracy. The Kova[+] doesn't disappoint, it is very accurate.
