AMD has announced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor, introducing dual AMD 3D V-Cache technology to the desktop for the first time. Built on the Zen 5 architecture, the new processor targets developers, creators, and high-end gaming workloads with a focus on increased cache capacity, lower latency, and improved throughput.
The processor features 16 cores and 32 threads, combining Zen 5 cores with dual 2nd generation 3D V-Cache across both chiplets. This configuration delivers a total of 208MB cache, enabling improved responsiveness and performance in demanding applications.
Advancing 3D V-Cache Technology
AMD first introduced 3D V-Cache with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, followed by the 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The latest generation refines the design by positioning the stacked cache beneath the cores, helping reduce temperatures while supporting higher sustained clock speeds and improved efficiency.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition builds on this approach, extending the benefits of 3D V-Cache across both chiplets to further enhance performance in modern workloads.
