The BC1 Open Benchtable platform expands with the introduction of the new VGPU and SMR Kits, extending the functionality of one of the industry’s most established open-frame test benches. Originally launched over a decade ago as a portable solution for travelling overclockers, the BC1’s flat-pack, toolless design quickly made it a preferred platform not only for competitive overclocking but also for open-air showcase builds and laboratory test environments.

While the BC1’s slim profile and minimalist construction prioritised portability, it limited support for fully vertical configurations and certain mounting options. The addition of the VGPU and SMR Kits addresses these gaps, delivering expanded configuration flexibility while maintaining the core design principles that have defined the BC1 ecosystem from the outset.

Open Benchtable VGPU Kit

With the release of the BC1 Open Benchtable V2, we introduced a vertical display mode by reorienting the feet, which opened up new possibilities for showpiece builds. Today’s graphics cards are larger, heavier, and often the centerpiece of an enthusiast’s setup, creating new demands for secure installation and stability.

We designed the VGPU (Vertical GPU) Kit to meet these needs. It provides a dedicated, adjustable base that fully supports the weight of modern GPUs while improving the BC1 Open Benchtable’s vertical stability. Using a standard riser cable (not included, ~18 cm with a 90° socket), your graphics card is securely mounted, resulting in a build that is both visually impressive and mechanically sound. The kit also includes mounts for radiators, allowing them to align neatly in a vertical orientation alongside the GPU.

Open Benchtable SMR (Side Mounted Rail) Kit

The SMR (Side Mounted Rail) Kit replaces the standard compact brackets with a significantly more robust rail system. Compatible with the original BC1 (V1), the V2, and the BC1 Mini, the SMR features adjustable, rotating clamps that allow for the precise placement of radiators, fans, and other complementary hardware.

In keeping with the "maker" mindset of the Open Benchtable project, the SMR is optimized for custom solutions. The included brackets use a flat profile design specifically to make them easy to replicate and reproduce. Using our provided templates and dimensions, users can easily design and make their own bespoke mounting hardware directly or through 3rd party fabrication services.
