A few days ago I posted a statement from Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO.
"Transitions are the best times, are the best ways, to make all of our creators take more risks and do different things," he said. "When a console is out for a long time ... you don't take as much risks on totally new IPs because even if they are good, they don't sell as well."
Bethesda has responded to this, albeit indirectly, with the following statement made to Destructoid.
"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter," said PR chief Pete Hines. "We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.
"So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."

While the company didn't reveal any figures it was clearly enough to consider making Dishonored a franchise which, as someone who loves this game, makes me very happy! If Dishonored 2 is anywhere near as good as Dishonored than I will put my hand up as high as I can and say "Yes please!". Will it be centered around Dunwall again with Corvo as the protagonist or will it be a completely new setting?
Does anyone else share my excitement? If you have played it I'd love to hear your thoughts on the game in our forums.
